Summer SUP

Earlier this year I made the plunge- I purchased a stand up paddle board! Instead of taking up one of my friends kind offers to have a go of theirs and see if I like it first, I decided to just buy one. Ever the impulsive! I thought this would be a good way to spend the summer when it would be too hot for hiking. Typically I managed to get out on it once before the weather turned, but I have managed to get on it four times this year.

So far I have been to Southport Marine Lake, Llyn Padarn and Aberdaron Beach. Southport Marine Lake has been a good location, but watch out for the boats if you go! I have actually been surprised how much I have enjoyed it, although I do more kneeling than standing! SUP on the sea is also very difficult- no standing there in fact I ended up falling off for the first time, but that is a story for another blog! Llyn Padarn is a beautiful place for a SUP, the mountain scenery is just breathtaking. Me and a friend spent a blissful evening there, it was perfect. Even though it was busy the lake is so big there is plenty of space.

I ended up going for a Bluefin SUP, and I do like it. Although I don’t have anything to compare it to! Now I am debating do I get a wetsuit and try some autumnal SUPs?! Although the prospect of falling in the water on a cold day doesn’t exactly fill me with joy!

If you SUP, where are your SUP recommended locations? I’d love to know- drop me a comment in the box!
