Dinorwic Quarry
This shot was taken from a day out exploring Dinorwic quarry, and the day ended with an abseil into this lake! Dinorwic is such an interesting place to explore, glancing into the past of this slate mine. There is evidence of the industry all around- here you will find old buildings such as Anglesey Baracks (that used to house the men from anglesey who worked here during the week), old parts of machinery, ladders, chains and all manor of caves and tunnels.
I feel that Dinoriwc is one of those places that you could discover something new with every visit. It is steeped with history, and the scars of industry providing a window into the past. For those seeking adventure, there is a route called Snakes and Ladders that involves climbing the rusty ladders, abseiling and climbing down the rusty chains. It is an adventure and is covered in my blog post. But be careful! The quarry can be dangerous and only undertake this if you have the ability and knowledge, or seek professional guidance. I did this with others who have been before.
