Y Lliwedd
Y Lliwedd is one of the mountains that make up the snowdon horseshoe and has a height of 898 meters. This shot was taken after sunset from Crib Goch, with the moon in shot and the sky displaying a beautiful belt of Venus. I love the sky when it turns these pastel pink and lilacs, it felt truly serene up there.
The belt of Venus is one of my favourite things (apart from the Milky Way!) to observe in clear skies, and this atmospheric phenomena occurs shortly before sunrise or after sunset. The pink colour of the sky is caused by sunlight shining through denser atmosphere being reflected off atmosphere at the opposite end of the sky. The bluer hues below the pink is the Earth’s shadow being cast on the atmosphere. It is an incredible sight to behold, and is stronger after sunset.
